New Zealand Pine
New
Zealand Pine or Pinus Radiata is a native of California, USA which was
introduced to NZ in the 1800's.
The species has adapted well
to the soils and climatic conditions of New Zealand and has a reputation
for good growth rates, disease resistance and versatility of end uses.
New Zealand Radiata Pine responds
well to pruning and thinning silviculture regimes which encourages the
growth of large clear butt logs suitable for the production of clear lumber
for high quality end uses. Unpruned logs produce lumber for a range of
structural and industrial lumber.
New Zealand Pine is a strong,
stable and light coloured timber.
